Childress County District Court sentences eight to prison

On Monday, July 14, 11 pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County.

Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Dale Rabe, Jr., presiding.

Christopher Dionte Davidson, 29, from Wellington, Texas, was sentenced to two, 12 years prison sentences for the second degree felony offense of sexual assault of a child.

Davidson was arrested by Collingsworth County Sheriff Kent Riley for the October and November, 2024 offenses.  Davidson was indicted by the Collingsworth County Grand Jury on March 27.

Davidson was also ordered to pay $340 in court costs and $500 in attorney fees.

“We were able to successfully prosecute this case with the cooperation of our victim, who courageously helped law enforcement and our office the entire time during the pendency of this case,” said Inman.

Rabe ordered that the two sentences run consecutively.  Davidson will have to complete the first 12-year sentence before the second twelve-year sentence begins.

After his release from prison, Davidson will be required to register as as sex offender for life, according to Inman.

Pedro Salinas Jr.

Pedro Salinas Jr., 45, from Childress, Texas, was sentenced to five years in prison for the second degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.

Salinas was arrested by Childress Police Department Officer Timothy Pyle on June 7.  Salinas pleaded guilty to an information filed by the State on July 11.

Salinas was also ordered to pay $340 in court costs and $500 in attorney fees.

Salinas was also convicted of the third degree felony offense of Assault Family Violence and received a five-year consecutive sentence to the first conviction.

Salinas was arrested for this offense on September 16, 2023, and was placed on two years probation on October 19, 2023.  The State filed its motion requesting the court to revoke Salinas’ probation on July 8, 2025, alleging two violations of his community supervision.

Salinas was ordered to pay the remaining $500 fine and $340 in court costs.  Rabe ordered by sentences run consecutively, therefore Salinas will have to complete his first conviction before the time begins on his second conviction.

John Lyn Brown

John Lyn Brown, 59, from Amarillo, Texas, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the third degree felony offense of evading arrest in a motor vehicle, enhanced to a first degree felony with two previous felony convictions.

Brown was arrested by Childress County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chris Lacario on Feb. 26, 2024.  Brown was placed on eight years probation on Oct. 24, 2024.

On Feb. 2, the State filed its motion requesting the court to revoke Brown’s probation, alleging four violations of his conditions of probation.  Brown pleaded true to the violations of his community supervision.

Brown was also ordered to pay the remaining $500 fine and $340 court costs.

Colton Michael Bradham, 34, from Childress, Texas, was sentenced to 15 months in prison for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.

Bradham was arrested by Childress Police Department Officer Glen Egerton on Oct. 6, 2024.  Bradham was placed on three years probation on Dec. 12, 2024.

On Feb. 2, the State filed its motion requesting the court to revoke Bradham’s probation, alleging eight violations of his conditions of probation.  Bradham pleaded true to the violations of his community supervision.

Bradham was also ordered to pay the remaining $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $180 in restitution and $340 court costs.

Juan Zarazoza Lopez, 48, from Mexico, was sentenced to 40 days in the Childress County Jail for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

Lopez was arrested by Childress Police Officer Daniel Hill on April 3.  Lopez pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 28.

Lopez was also ordered to pay $340 in court costs.  Lopez’ plea of guilty subjects him to deportation to his country of origin, Mexico.

Victoria Lea Broussard, 28, from Longview, Texas, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the second degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.

Broussard was arrested in Childress County by Hill on March 7, 2023.  Broussard was placed on six years probation on June 14, 2023.

On March 26, the State filed its motion requesting the court to revoke Broussard’s probation, alleging eight violations of her conditions of probation.  Broussard pleaded true to the violations of her community supervision.

Broussard was also ordered to pay the remaining $6,000 fine, $180 in restitution, $400 in attorney fees and $340 court costs.

Sabrina Carol Simmons, 45, from Vernon, Texas, was sentenced to six years in prison for the third degree felony offense of prohibited substance in a correctional facility, methamphetamine.

Simmons was arrested in Childress County by Egerton on Dec. 30, 2024.  Simmons was placed on four years probation on February 12.

On June 16, the State filed its motion requesting the court to revoke Simmons’ probation, alleging five violations of her conditions of probation.  Simmons pleaded true to the violations of her community supervision.

Simmons was also ordered to pay the remaining $4,000 fine, $180 in restitution, $450 in attorney fees and $340 court costs.

Chase Daniel Grimes, 30, from Wellington, Texas, was placed on four years for the second degree felony offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Grimes was arrested by Collingsworth County Sheriff Kent Riley on June 19.  Grimes pleaded guilty to an information filed by the State on June 11.

Grimes was ordered to pay a $500 fine, $450 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, no contact with the victim, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service.  If revoked, Grimes faces up to 20 years in prison.

Sabrina Rochelle Kolasa, 47, from Memphis, Texas, was sentenced to two years in prison for the state jail felony offense of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.  However, the sentence was probated for three years.

Kolasa was arrested in Hall County by DPS Trooper Robert Varner on Aug. 15, 2022.  Kolasa was indicted by the Hall County Grand Jury on Oct. 9, 2024.

Kolasa was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine, $60 in restitution, $400 in attorney fees, a $500 transfer fee, and $390 court costs.
