Blevins sentenced to serve two consecutive sentences

Childress – On Wednesday, June 25, three pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court, via the internet-based meeting app Zoom.

Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Dale Rabe Jr., presiding.

John Scott Blevins, 45, from Childress, Texas, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the second degree felony offense of possession with the intent to promote child pornography. The offense took place in Childress County on Oct. 11, 2022.

Blevins was originally placed on four years probation on Oct. 24, 2024.

On Feb. 7, the State filed its motion requesting the court to revoke Blevins’ probation, alleging 12 violations of his conditions of probation.  Blevins pleaded true to the violations of his community supervision.

Blevins was also ordered to pay the remaining $500 fine and $340 court costs.

Blevins was also sentenced to eight years in prison for the second degree felony offense of possession with the intent to promote child pornography. The offense took place in Childress County on Oct. 11, 2022.

Blevins was originally placed on four years probation on Oct. 24, 2024.

On Feb. 7, the State filed its motion requesting the court to revoke Blevins’ probation, alleging 10 violations of his conditions of probation.  Blevins pleaded true to the violations of his community supervision.

Blevins was also ordered to pay the remaining $340 court costs. Rabe ordered that both sentences run consecutively.

Jared Anthony Ellis, 36, from Canon City, Colo., was placed on two years probation for the Class A misdemeanor offense of unlawful use of a criminal instrument.

Ellis was arrested by Childress Police Officer Camaron Thomas on Sept. 19, 2024. Ellis pleaded to an information filed by the State on Feb. 25.

Ellis was ordered to pay an upfront $4,000 fine, $340 in court costs upfront, $180 restitution upfront, and complete 100 hours of community service. If Ellis’ probation is revoked, he could face up to 180 days in the county jail.
