Two pleas hear by District Court via Zoom
Childress – On Wednesday, April 23, two pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court, via the internet-based meeting app Zoom.
Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Dale Rabe, Jr., presiding.
Michael Laroy Prichard, 22 from Claude, Texas, was placed on four years probation for the third degree felony offense of evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
Prichard was arrested by Carson County Sheriff’s Deputy China Alexander on May 5, 2024. Prichard was indicted by a Carson County Grand Jury on Jan. 30.
Prichard was ordered to pay a $1,500 fine, $305 in court costs, and complete 200 hours of community service. If his probation is adjudicated, Prichard faces up to ten years in prison.
Rabe found that Prichard used a deadly weapon during the commission of the offense, which would require him to serve at least 50 percent of his sentence if revoked.
James Alfred Goodwin, 23, from Hattiesburg, Miss., was convicted for the Class A misdemeanor offense of unlawful use of a criminal instrument that occurred in Childress County on Aug. 10, 2023.
Goodwin was arrested by Childress Police Officer Daniel Hill. Goodwin pleaded to an information filed by the State on Sept. 26, 2023.
Goodwin was ordered to pay an upfront $4,000 fine, $340 in court costs upfront, and $180 restitution upfront.
