Childress County District Court hears 23 pleas
On Thursday, Oct.16, 23 pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County.
Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Dale Rabe Jr., presiding.

Tiffany Michelle Overby
Tiffany Michelle Overby, 36, from Gardendale, Texas, was sentenced to eight years in prison for the third degree felony offense of prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
Overby was arrested by Childress Police Department Officer Christopher Lacario on April 13. Overby pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 11.
Overby was also ordered to pay $340 in court costs.
Gunner Wayne Garrett, 24, from Childress, was placed on four years probation for the first degree felony offense of burglary of habitation.
Garrett was arrested by Childress Police Department Officer Lisa Gonzales on Oct. 16, 2024.
Garrett was indicted by the Childress County Grand Jury on June 3.
Garrett was ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs and successfully complete 400 hours of community service. If revoked, Garrett faces up to 99 years, or life, in prison.
Juan Robledo-Ornelas, 33, from Mexico, was placed on six years probation for the first degree felony offense of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver.
Robledo was arrested by Childress Police Department Officer Daniel Hill on April 3. Robledo pleaded guilty to an information filed by the State on May 20.
Robledo was ordered to pay a $6,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $180 in lab fee restitution, $340 in court costs and successfully complete 400 hours of community service. If revoked, Robledo faces up to 99 years, or life, in prison.
Robledo’s plea also subjects him to deportation to Mexico.
Christian Neal Griffin, 52, from Quanah, was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of psilocybin mushrooms.
Griffin was arrested by Hill in Childress on June 22. Griffin pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 11.
Griffin was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Griffin faces up to two years in prison.
Devin Yeates Jessop, 19 from Enterprise, Utah, was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of cocaine.
Jessop was arrested in Childress by Hill on Jan. 27. Jessop pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 28.
Jessop was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, a
$500 out-of-state probation transfer fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Jessop faces up to two years in prison.
Lakecia Jones, 52, from Quanah, was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of methamphetamine.
Jones was arrested by Childress Police Officer Anthony Smith on Nov. 29, 2024. Jones pleaded to an information filed by the State on Jan. 29.
Jones was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Jones faces up to two years in prison.
Kelela Sarah Faasisilia, 28, from San Bruno, Calif., was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of cocaine.
Faasisilia was arrested in Childress by Smith on July 7. Faasisilia pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 30.
Faasisilia was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, a $500 out-of-state probation transfer fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Faasisilia faces up to two years in prison.
Laurianne Elizabeth Perez, 50, from Childress, was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of methamphetamine.
Perez was arrested by Childress Police Officer Jared Dill on April 5. Perez pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 28.
Perez was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Perez faces up to two years in prison.
Daniel Vance Bayless, 66, from Childress, was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of theft.
Bayless was arrested by Childress Police Lieutenant Chris Palmitier on May 7. Bayless pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 28.
Bayless was also ordered to pay $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $11,250 in restitution, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Bayless faces up to two years in prison.
Diego Gonzalez-Campos, 22, from Humble, Texas, was placed on four years probation for the third degree felony offense of possession of cocaine.
Gonzalez was arrested by Lacario in Childress on Feb. 2. Gonzalez pleaded guilty to an information filed by the State on May 28.
Gonzalez was ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, $450 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 in lab fee restitution, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If revoked, Gonzalez faces up to ten years in prison.
Ricky Dwight Pierce, 35, from Las Vegas, was placed on five years probation for the third degree felony offense of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
Pierce was arrested by Smith in Childress on March 28, 2024. Pierce was indicted by the Childress County Grand Jury on Dec. 17, 2024.
Pierce was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, $340 in court costs, a $500 out-of-state probation transfer fee, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If revoked, Pierce faces up to ten years in prison.
John Joshua Martinez, 39, from Childress, was placed on four years probation for the second degree felony offense of possession of methamphetamine.
Martinez was arrested by Hill in Childress on Jan. 30, 2024 and was later indicted by the Childress County Grand Jury on March 5.
Martinez was ordered to pay a $500 fine, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee restitution, and successfully complete 400 hours of community service. If revoked, Martinez faces up to 20 years in prison.
Timothy Lee Sherwood, 43, from Childress, was placed on eight years probation for the second degree felony offense of failure to register as a sex offender, enhanced to a first degree with a previous felony conviction.
Sherwood was arrested by Childress County Sheriff Matthew Bradley on Oct. 20, 2024. Sherwood was indicted by the Childress County Grand Jury on June 3.
Sherwood was ordered to pay a $8,000 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs and successfully complete 400 hours of community service. If revoked, Sherwood faces up to 99 years, or life, in prison.
Joseph Robert Wisniewski, 57, from Clearwater, Fla., was placed on two years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of tetrahydrocannabinol.
Wisniewski was arrested by Donley County Deputy Brian Steven on Oct.12. Wisniewski pleaded to an information filed by the State on Oct. 16.
Wisniewski was ordered to pay a $500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $180 in lab fee restitution, $290 in court costs, a $500 out-of-state probation transfer fee, and completed 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Wisniewski faces up to two years in prison.
Randy Watts, 48, from Roland, Okla., was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of tetrahydrocannabinol.
Watts was arrested in Childress by DPS Trooper Chad Baize on Jan. 13. Watts pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 28.
Watts was ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $180 in lab fee restitution, a $500 out-of-state probation transfer fee, and $340 in court costs and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Watts faces up to two years in prison.
Ivan Jeremy Galindo, 49, from Bloomington, Calif., was placed on two years probation for the class A misdemeanor offense of unlawful use of a criminal instrument.
Galindo was arrested by Childress Police Officer Glen Egerton on June 1. Galindo pleaded guilty to an information filed by the State on July 11.
Galindo was ordered to pay an upfront fine of $1,400, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 in restitution, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Galindo faces up to one year in the Childress County Jail.
Daniel Ray Garrett, 33, from Childress, was placed on two years probation for the class A misdemeanor offense of criminal mischief.
Garrett was arrested by Childress County Sheriff’s Deputy Lane Thomas on March 15. Garrett was indicted by the Childress County Grand Jury on Aug. 19.
Garrett was ordered to pay $4,503 in restitution, with $1,000 of that being paid upfront, at $500 fine,
$340 in court costs, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Garrett faces up to one year in the Childress County Jail.
Joshlene Selina Davila, 30, from Amarillo, was placed on two years probation for the class A misdemeanor offense of unlawful use of a criminal instrument.
Davila was arrested by Thomas in Childress on Dec. 6, 2024. Davila pleaded guilty to an information filed by the State on Feb. 14.
Davila was ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 in restitution, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Davila faces up to one year in the Childress County Jail.
Nathaniel Xavier Martinez, 25, from Haltom City, Texas, was placed on two years probation for the class A misdemeanor offense of unlawful use of a criminal instrument.
Martinez was arrested in Hall County by DPS Trooper Daniel Barth on Feb. 7. Martinez pleaded to an information filed by the State on June 3.
Martinez was ordered to pay a fine of $4,000, $400 in attorney fees, $290 in court costs, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Murillo faces up to one year in the Hall County Jail.
Jose Manuel Gonzales, 19, from Clarendon, was placed on two years probation for the class A misdemeanor offense of assault.
Gonzales was arrested by Donley County Deputy Wesley Christopher on June 14, 2024. Gonzales was indicted by the Donley County Grand Jury on Dec. 18, 2024.
Gonzales was ordered to pay a fine of $500, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Gonzales faces up to one year in the Donley County Jail.
Giovany Fransico Saavedra, 45, from San Fernando, Calif., was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of methamphetamine.
Saavedra was arrested by Egerton in Childress on June 20. Saavedra pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 11.
Saavedra was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, a $500 out-of-state probation transfer fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Saavedra faces up to two years in prison.
Saavedra also pleaded guilty to another state jail felony offense of possession of tetrahydrocannabinol that occurred on the same date as the methamphetamine charge. Saavedra was ordered to pay another $2,500 fine, $180 in lab fee restitution, and $400 in attorney fees for this offense.
Cody Leeann Sloan, 48, from Childress, was placed on 10 years probation for the first degree felony offense of injury to an elderly person.
Sloan was arrested by Childress Police Department Officer Manda Young on July 15, 2024. Sloan was indicted by the Childress County Grand Jury on March 28.
Sloan was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs and successfully complete 400 hours of community service. If revoked, Sloan faces up to 99 years, or life, in prison.
