Childress 100th Judicial District Court adjudicates two

On Wednesday, Sept. 3, three pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County.

Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Stuart Messer by assignment.

Gena Marie Holmes, 33, from Childress, was sentenced to 20 months in prison for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, THC that occurred in Childress County on April 8, 2023.

Holmes was originally placed on probation for the offense on May 1, 2023.

On May 20, 2024, the State filed its motion requesting the court to adjudicate Holmes’s probation, alleging five violations of her conditions of probation.

Holmes was also ordered to pay $340 court costs, a $500 fine, and $180 lab fee.

 Johnnie Ray Lewis, 49, from Wellington, Texas, was sentenced to 20 months in prison for the state jail felony offense of theft that occurred in Childress County on June 28, 2016.

Lewis was originally placed on probation for the offense on Oct. 12, 2017.

On Sept. 27, 2021, the State filed its motion requesting the court to adjudicate Lewis’ probation, alleging 20 violations of his conditions of probation.

Lewis was also ordered to pay $289 court costs, a $500 fine, and $10,000 restitution.

James Ryan Sharpe, 43, from Childress, Texas, was placed on four years probation for the third degree felony offense of obstruction or retaliation.

Sharpe was arrested by Childress Police Officer Glen Egerton on April 21, 2025. Sharpe pleaded to the compliant filed by the State on July 11.

Sharpe was ordered to pay a $500 fine, $340 in court costs, $450 in attorney’s fees, and complete 200 hours of community service. If revoked, Sharpe faces up to 10 years in prison.
