Childress County District Court hears 15 pleas

On Thursday, Feb. 13, 15 pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County.

Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Dale Rabe Jr., presiding.

Jamie Villanueva, 38, from Memphis, Texas, was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the third degree felony offense of violation of a protective order enhanced to a second degree felony.

Villanueva was originally placed on probation for the offense on Dec. 12, 2024 for the offense that occurred on Aug.23, 2024 in Hall County. On Jan. 21, the State filed its motion requesting the Court to revoke Villanueva’s probation, alleging two violations of his conditions of probation. Villanueva pleaded true to the allegations.

Villanueva was also ordered to pay $290 court costs.

In a separate case, Villanueva was sentenced to five years in prison for the third degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.

Villanueva was originally placed on probation for the offense on Dec. 12, 2024 for the offense that occurred in Hall County on Sept.20, 2024. On Jan. 21, the State filed its motion requesting the Court to adjudicate Villanueva’s probation, alleging one violation of his conditions of probation. Villanueva pleaded true to the allegations.

Villanueva was ordered to pay $290 court costs and a $6,000 fine.

Notably, the Court ordered that the five-year prison sentence be served consecutive to the 11-year sentence.

Patrick Wayne Russell, 37, from Fort Worth, Texas, was sentenced to three years in prison for the third degree felony offense of evading arrest in a motor vehicle with a deadly weapon.

Russell was arrested by former Childress Police Officer Manda Young on Aug. 5, 2024. Russell pleaded to an information filed by the State on Feb. 13.

Russell was also ordered to pay $340 in court costs.

Margaret Leona Trent, 43, from Childress, Texas, was placed on five years probation for the first degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, with intent to deliver.

Trent was arrested by Young on Aug. 11, 2024. Trent pleaded to an information filed by the State on Sept. 19, 2024.

Trent was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 400 hours of community service. If her probation is revoked, Trent faces up to 99 years or life in prison.

Kaywabee Vusa Mazulu May, 27, from Dehli, La., was placed on three years probation for the second degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.

May was arrested by Childress County Sheriff’s Deputy Lane Thomas on May 17, 2024. May pleaded to an information filed by the State on Oct. 29, 2024.

May was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 300 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, May faces up to 20 years in prison.

Nicollette Sheridan Belknap, 31, from Epps, La. was placed on three years probation for the second degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.

Belknap was arrested by Thomas on May 17, 2024. Belknap pleaded to an information filed by the State on Oct. 29, 2024.

Belknap was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 300 hours of community service. If her probation is revoked, Belknap faces up to 20 years in prison.

Enrique Rojas, Jr., 26, from Childress, was placed on five years probation for the second degree felony offense of bribery.

Rojas was arrested by Childress Police Officer Anthony Smith on March 15, 2024. Rojas was indicted by a Childress County Grand Jury on Dec. 17, 2024.

Rojas was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, and complete 300 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Rojas faces up to 20 years in prison.

Sabrina Carol Simmons, 44, from Justin, Texas, was placed on four years probation for the third degree felony offense of prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

Simmons was arrested by Childress Police Officer Glen Egerton on Dec. 30, 2024. Simmons pleaded to an information filed by the State on Feb. 11.

Simmons was also ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, $450 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 200 hours of community service. If his probation is adjudicated, Simmons faces up to 10 years in prison.

Reyes Martinez, 50, from Memphis, was placed on two years probation for the third degree felony offense of exploitation of an elderly person.

Martinez was arrested by Childress Police Officer Daniel Hill on Nov. 9, 2022. Martinez was indicted by a Childress County Grand Jury on June 4, 2024.

Martinez was also ordered to pay a $500 fine, $450 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, and complete 100 hours of community service. If his probation is adjudicated, Martinez faces up to 10 years in prison.

Timothy Martin Mercer, 62, from Lewisville, Texas, was convicted and sentenced to ten years in prison, but the sentence was probated for three years, for the third degree felony offense of driving while intoxicated third or more.

Mercer was arrested in Hall County by Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy Dave Thomas on July 11, 2024. Mercer was indicted by a Hall County Grand Jury on Dec. 18, 2024.

Mercer was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine, $290 in court costs, $60 lab fee, complete 200 hours of community service, and all DWI requirements under chapter 49 of the Texas Penal Code.

Katherine Ann Grannison, 40, from Ora, Calif., was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, fentanyl.

Grannison was arrested by Hill on April 8, 2024. Grannison pleaded to an information filed by the State on October 29, 2024.

Grannison was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If her probation is revoked, Grannison faces up to two years in prison.

Madelyn Claire Ramsey, 23, from Greenville, Texas, was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

Ramsey was arrested by Smith on July 3, 2024. Ramsey pleaded to an information filed by the State on Sept. 19, 2024.

Ramsey was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If her probation is revoked, Ramsey faces up to two years in prison.

Miguel Angel Mendez, 23, from Idabel, Okla., was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

Mendez was arrested by Smith on July 24, 2024. Mendez pleaded to an information filed by the State on Sept. 19, 2024.

Mendez was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Mendez faces up to two years in prison.

Delwyn Jabraun Twine, 48, from Houston, Texas, was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, psilocybin.

Twine was arrested by DPS Trooper Chad Baize on July 25, 2024. Twine pleaded to an information filed by the State on Sept. 19, 2024.

Twine was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Twine faces up to two years in prison.

Stanley David Mote, 61, from Bowie, Texas, was placed on two years probation for the class A misdemeanor offense of assault family violence.

Mote was arrested by Smith for the offense that took place Feb. 18, 2024. Mote was indicted by a Carson County Grand Jury on Dec. 17, 2024.

Mote was also ordered to pay a $500 fine, $340 in court costs, $400 attorney fees, and complete 100 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Mote faces up to one year in the Childress County Jail.
