Motorcyclist killed after striking deer in Hutchinson County

HUTCHINSON COUNTY, Texas — A Skellytown man was killed Thursday when his motorcycle struck a deer on a rural highway in Hutchinson County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Kenniston Charles Brown, 48, was traveling west on FM 2171 about a mile west of FM 280 when his 2007 Kawasaki KL6 struck a deer in the roadway shortly after 6 p.m., DPS said.

The impact caused the motorcycle to fall onto its side and eject Brown. He was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS said Brown was not wearing a helmet.

The crash occurred under clear skies on a dry roadway where the posted speed limit is 55 mph.
