JV Panthers Best Dalhart to for a 3-0 start to the season

The Junior Varsity Panthers handled the Dalhart Wolves at home on Thursday evening with a 36-8 thumping. They started off the scoring; a quick 1 minute into the game when Zach Andrews hit Max Downs on a 4- yard touchdown pass. The 2-point PAT was good on a Downs run, making it 8-0. Later in the first, Parker Lumpkin broke loose on a 37-yard run reaching the end zone with 4:35 remaining in the first. The 2-point conversion was no good making the score 14-0. The Panthers poured it on with one more score in the first quarter on a Downs 4-yard TD run. The 2-point PAT was good on an Andrews to Jaxson Baird pass to push their lead to 22-0.

The second quarter was more of the same as Kaeson Crawford scored on a 3-yard TD run. Bobby Arrington punched in the 2-point PAT to make the halftime score 22-0.

The third quarter was scoreless, but 10 seconds into the fourth quarter Lumpkin again broke a big run of 41 yards for a touchdown. The 2-point was no good to make the score 36-0. Dalhart would get a touchdown with 1 minute left in the game on a 14-yard touchdown pass. They converted the 2-points to make the final score 36-8.

In rushing, Lumpkin had five rushes for 111 yards and two touchdowns; Downs – seven rushes for 24 yards and one TD; Andrews – two rushes for 18 yards; Crawford – two rushes for 12 yards and one TD; Braylyn Lambert – one rush for 9 yards; Arrington – one rush for 7 yards.

Andrews passed seven for nine for 122 yards and one touchdown.

In receiving, Downs had three receptions for 68 yards and one TD; Lambert – one reception for 18 yards; Max Mize – one reception for 16 yards; Lumpkin – one reception for 14 yards; and

Lane Krogh one reception for 6 yards.

Defensively, Carter Lagunas had 10 tackles; Downs seven tackles; Krogh six tackles and two PBU; Crawford six tackles; Brecken Dollar six tackles; Braedyn Lewis six tackles; Braxton Macklin three tackles; Austin Purcell three tackles; Max Mize two tackles; Baird two tackles one sack; Lumpkin two tackles; Shaedon Gauna two tackles; Gus Sinclair two tackles; Arrington one tackle; Lambert one tackle, one PBU, one interception; Tae Horton one tackle; Landon Jeffers one tackle; Kelton Gray one tackle; Trendon Jordan one PBU and one interception.

Panhandle: Rushing yards – 181; Passing yards – 122; Total yards – 303

Dalhart: Rushing yards – 24; Passing yards – 192; Total yards – 216
