Following the Panthers 77-7 win over the Sunray Bobcats, Panhandle Head Coach Dane Ashley was honored for earning the most wins inPanhandle school football history. Leading Panther Nation for 11 seasons, Ashley racked up a total of 92 wins opposed to only 38 losses.

Friday night’s honor came a big surprise to Ashley. His wife Amy had planned the big surprise for her husband.

Panther fans and Ashley’s family were in attendance as well as former Panther players representing his 11 seasons.

Growing up in Booker and Stratford, football has been a dominating factor in Ashley’s life, as he went on to play football at Angelo State, and later assumed the role of assistant coach at Levelland, Amarillo High, Bullard and Tascosa before moving his family to Panhandle to become the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach.

“I want to thank all the young men who have played for us at Panhandle and gave so much. Its a real honor and privilege to call Panhandle home and be a part of this community. I also want to thank my wonderful wife, Amy, I couldn’t do this without her,” Coach Ashley said.
