Collingsworth County District Court Docket
On Tuesday, May 13, one hearing and two pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court in Collingsworth County.
Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Dale Rabe presiding.
Richard Galvon Ordaz, Jr., 29, from Wellington, Texas, was sentenced to 23 months in prison for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance that occurred in Collingsworth County on April 8, 2022.
Ordaz was originally placed on probation for the offense on June 8, 2023.
On Jan. 9, the State filed its motion requesting the court to revoke Ordaz’s probation, alleging two violations of his conditions of probation, both of which were related to Ordaz’s failure to complete a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program.
At the hearing, Ordaz denied violating the probation conditions.
The State called two witnesses. Becky Fuller, Director of the 100th Judicial District Community Supervision Department, testified to the conditions of Ordaz’s probation.
Christine Lara, the assistant director of the drug rehabilitation program which Ordaz had been court-ordered to complete, testified to Ordaz’s many violations of the rules of the facility and subsequent dismissal from the program.
At the conclusion of the hearing, Rabe revoked Ordaz’s probation and imposed the 23-month prison sentence. The maximum allowable punishment for a state jail felony is 24 months in prison.
Benny Sanchez, 61, from Welllington, Texas, was sentenced to seven years in prison for the third degree felony offense of injury to an elderly individual that took place in Collingsworth County on Jan. 15, 2024.
Sanchez was originally placed on probation for the offense on June 20, 2024.
On Dec.11, 2024, the State filed its motion requesting the Court to revoke Sanchez’s probation, alleging one violation of his conditions of probation. Sanchez pleaded true to the allegation.
Sanchez was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine and $376 court costs.
Isiah Jeremaine Robey, 25, from Las Vegas, Calif., was placed on four years probation for the third degree felony offense of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information.
Robey was arrested by Childress Police Officer Jessie Zuniga for the offense that took place on April 5, 2023. Robey pleaded to an information filed by the State on Oct. 29, 2024.
Robey was also ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, $1,333 in restitution, $340 in court costs, $450 in attorney’s fees and complete 200 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Robey faces up to 10 years in prison.
