Childress County District Court hears 23 pleas

On Thursday, April 24, 23 pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County.
Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Dale Rabe, Jr., presiding.
- Brandon Adoplhus Williams, 26 from Dallas, was placed on six years for the third degree felony offense of possession of marijuana.
Williams was arrested by Childress County Deputy Lane Thomas on Feb. 5, 2024. Williams was indicted by the Childress County Grand Jury on Oct. 8, 2024.
Williams was ordered to pay a $6,000 fine, $180 restitution, $450 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If revoked, Williams faces up to 10 years in prison.
- In a separate case, Williams was placed on probation for five years for the state jail felony offense of money laundering.
Williams was ordered to pay $400 in attorney fees and $340 in court costs for this charge. If revoked, Williams faces up to two years in prison for this offense.
- Carlos Manuel Hernandez-Pereira, 24 from Las Vegas, was sentenced to seven months in prison for the state jail felony offense of possession of marihuana.
Hernandez was arrested in Childress County by DPS Trooper Nathan Bozeman on Sept. 8, 2024. Hernandez pleaded to an information filed by the State on Oct. 9, 2024.
Hernandez was also ordered to pay $340 in court costs and $180 in restitution.
- Eric Zane Ouzts, 28 from Gray Court, S.C., was sentenced to 50 days in prison for the state jail felony offense of criminal attempt.
Ouzts was arrested by Childress Police Officer James Palmitier on March 3. Ouzts pleaded to an information filed by the State on April 24.
Ouzts was also ordered to pay $340 in court costs.
- Cesar Rey Longoria, 17 from Childress, was placed on three years probation for the first degree felony offense of burglary of a habitation.
Longoria was arrested in Childress by Childress Police Officer Timothy Pyle on Sept. 20, 2024. Longoria pleaded to an information filed by the State on April 24.
Longoria was also ordered to pay a $500 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, and complete 400 hours of community service. If revoked, Longoria faces up to 99 years or life in prison.
- Richard Lee Chapa Barrera, 41, from McAllen, Texas, was placed on ten years probation for the third degree felony offense of assault family violence by choking, enhanced to a first degree.
Barrera was arrested by Childress Police Officer Anthony Smith on Sept. 23, 2024. Barrera was indicted by the Childress County Grand Jury on Jan. 23.
Barrera was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, and complete 400 hours of community service. If revoked, Barrera faces up to 99 years or life in prison
- Patrick Nolan Smith, 24 from Clear Water Beach, Fla., was placed on four years probation for the second degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.
Smith was arrested in Childress County by 100th Judicial District Traffic Enforcement Division Officer Todd Gambol on June 26, 2024. Smith pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 24, 2024.
Smith was also ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, $500 transfer fee and complete 300 hours of community service. If revoked, Smith faces up to 20 years in prison.
- Nicole Tabresha Green, 35, from Dallas, was placed on six years probation for the third degree felony offense of evading arrest in a motor vehicle with a deadly weapon.
Green was arrested in Childress by Thomas on Feb. 5, 2024. Green was indicted by the Childress County Grand Jury on Oct. 8, 2024.
Green was ordered to pay a $6,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, and complete 200 hours of community service. If revoked, Green faces up to 10 years in prison.
Rabe found that Green used a deadly weapon during the commission of the offense, which would require her to serve at least 50 percent of her sentence if revoked.
- Alejandro Juarez, 31 from Plainview, was placed on three years probation for the third degree felony offense of assault family violence by choking.
Juarez was arrested by Childress Police Officer Manda Young on March 28, 2023. Juarez was indicted by the Childress County Grand Jury on March 26, 2024.
Juarez was also ordered to pay a $3,000 fine, $450 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, and complete 200 hours of community service. If revoked, Juarez faces up to 10 years in prison.
- Jordan Hope Lopez, 34 from Freeport, Texas, was placed on six years probation for the second degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
Lopez was arrested by Childress Police Officer Daniel Hill on Jan. 3. Lopez pleaded to an information filed by the State on Feb. 14.
Lopez was also ordered to pay a $6,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $500 transfer fee and complete 300 hours of community service. If revoked, Lopez faces up to 20 years in prison.
- Dairon Javier Martinez-Espinosa, 32 from Miami, was placed on six years probation for the second degree felony offense of marihuana.
Martinez was arrested in Donley County by DPS Trooper Stephen Bond on June 4, 2024. Martinez pleaded to an information filed by the State on Aug. 6, 2024.
Martinez was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine, $305 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 300 hours of community service. If revoked, Martinez faces up to 20 years in prison.
- Kelly Leann Lagrone, 33 from Quanah, Texas, was placed on four years probation for the third degree felony offense of fraudulent use of identifying documents.
Lagrone was arrested by Memphis Police Officer Cassie Crandell on Sept. 9, 2024. Lagrone was indicted by the Hall County Grand Jury on Jan. 22.
Lagrone was also ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, $550 in restitution, $450 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, and complete 200 hours of community service. If revoked, Lagrone faces up to 10 years in prison.
- Josue David Cabrera, 19 from Amarillo, was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, THC.
Cabrera was arrested in Hall County by Memphis Police Officer Anthony Smith on Nov. 12, 2024. Cabrera pleaded to an information filed by the State on Feb. 18.
Cabrera was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fee, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Cabrera faces up to two years in prison.
Isaac Garibaldi, 22 from Paducah, Texas, was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.
Garibaldi was arrested in Childress County by DPS Game Warden Zach Fisher on Nov. 22, 2024. Garibaldi pleaded to an information filed by the State on Jan. 29.
Garibaldi was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Garibaldi faces up to two years in prison.
Richard Duran, 60 from Fort Worth, was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
Duran was arrested by Childress County Deputy Chris Lacario on May 6, 2024. Duran pleaded to an information filed by the State on Jan. 29.
Duran was ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Duran faces up to two years in prison.
Zachary Russell Lammon, 25 from Grady, Ala., was placed on two years probation for the class A misdemeanor offense of fleeing a police officer.
Lammon was arrested by Donley County Deputy Brian Stevens on March 20, 2024. Lammon was indicted by the Donley County Grand Jury on Aug. 19, 2024.
Lammon was ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, with $1,000 upfront, $290 in court costs, $60 in restitution, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Lammon faces up to one year in the Donley County Jail.
- Elijah Phelan Rose, 24, from Childress, Texas, was placed on two years probation for the class A misdemeanor offense of unlawful use of a criminal instrument.
Rose was arrested in Childress by Young on June 1, 2024. Rose pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 24, 2024.
Rose was also ordered to pay a fine of $250 fine, $340 in court costs, $180 in restitution, $400 attorney fees, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Rose faces up to one year in the Childress County Jail.
- John Michael Cantu, 24, from Childress, was placed on two years probation for the class A misdemeanor offense of unlawful use of a criminal instrument.
Cantu was arrested in Childress by Young on July 24, 2024. Cantu pleaded to an information filed by the State on Sept.19, 2024.
Cantu was also ordered to pay an upfront fine of $4,000 fine, $340 in court costs, $180 in restitution, $400 attorney fees, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Cantu faces up to one year in the Childress County Jail.
- Talford Leon Northern, 64 from Santa Fe, N.M., was placed on six years probation for the second degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
Northern was arrested by Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden Zack Fisher on Dec.14, 2024. Northern pleaded to an information filed by the State on February 18.
Northern was also ordered to pay a $6,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $290 in court costs, $180 lab fee, $500 transfer fee and complete 300 hours of community service. If revoked, Northern faces up to 20 years in prison.
- Michael Lorenzo Wilson, 41 from Union Church, Miss., was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, THC.
Wilson was arrested by Childress Police Officer Glen Egerton on Oct. 17, 2024. Wilson pleaded to an information filed by the State on Jan. 29.
Wilson was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 100 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Wilson faces up to two years in prison.
- Cody Lee Eugene Gilmer, 28 from Greeley, Colo., was placed on three years probation for the state jail felony offense of money laundering.
Gilmer was arrested by Childress Police Officer Daniel Hill on July 22, 2024. Gilmer pleaded to an information filed by the State on Feb. 14.
Gilmer was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $400 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, and complete 100 hours of community service. If revoked, Gilmer faces up to two years in prison.
- Willie Ray Mann, 48 from Lake Jackson, Texas, was placed on six years probation for the second degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
Mann was arrested by Childress Police Officer Daniel Hill on Jan. 3. Mann pleaded to an information filed by the State on Feb. 14.
Mann was also ordered to pay a $6,000 fine, $500 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, $180 lab fee, $500 transfer fee and complete 300 hours of community service. If revoked, Mann faces up to 20 years in prison.
- David Wayne Mell, 57, from Amarillo, was placed on four years probation for the third degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
Mell was arrested by Childress Police Officer Anthony Smith on June 6, 2024. Mell pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 24, 2024.
Mell was also ordered to pay a $2,500 fine, $450 in attorney fees, $340 in court costs, and $180 lab fee. If revoked, Mell faces up to 10 years in prison.
