Carolyn Sue Trosper, age 87, passed from this world and into the arms of her Lord and Savior on May 13, 2025. She passed peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Services were held at First Baptist Church of Childress on May 16, 2025, with Dr. Deer Green officiating. Burial followed in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Sue was born to Wanna (Tawwater) Richardson and Afton Richardson on April 29, 1938, in Childress. She remained in Childress throughout her lifetime where she met the love of her life, Billy Trosper. She and Billy married on Oct. 16, 1955, and together they raised six children. Together they maintained a loving household, and always left their doors open to anyone who needed a safe place to land. She was known to many as “Sue”, to her close loved ones as “Susie Q” and later in life as “Gran”.
While raising her children, she served as president of the P.T.A., was a member of the Women’s Department Club and set on the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels. Sue was an accomplished seamstress and sewed for the public for years while also making many of her children’s clothing. She was an excellent cook and served many family dinners for up to 75 people. She was a strong, courageous woman who served everyone with a gentle touch and she always had words of encouragement from her open and loving heart.
Sue was preceded in death by her soul mate of 50 years, Bill Trosper; three sons, Mike, Keith and Kirk Trosper; parents, Afton and Wanna Richardson; brother, Grant Richardson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Lois Trosper.
Left to cherish and share her memories are daughters, Vicki and husband Mike Goodwin, Pam and husband Larry Gambol, and Kathy and husband Rickey Lane; grandchildren, Scotty Goodwin and wife Lisa, Amanda and husband Kelly Walker, Melissa Goodwin, Todd Gambol and wife Pauline, Shanna and husband Kevin Floyd of Panhandle, Jason Lane and wife Angela, Tyler Lane and wife Adrianna, Shelbie and husband Kenny Starnes, Summer Trosper and husband Craig, Misty and husband Craig Sides, Kristen and husband Derek Casey, and Ashley Love; 36 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister Cynthia Compton; brother-in-law, Dean Troper and wife Julie; daughters-in-law, Lisa Trosper and Shirley Trosper.
