At its regular meeting on July 21, 2025, the White Deer ISD Board of Trustees approved all agenda items in preparation for the upcoming school year.
The board adopted Policy Update 125, which included revisions to local policies on board governance, academic standards, attendance, student safety transfers, library resources, student activities and responsible use of personal electronic devices. These updates align district policy with current state guidance and operational needs.
Trustees also approved the 2025–2026 stipend schedule and revised pay scales for all employees, reaffirming the district’s commitment to competitive compensation. An audit firm was selected for the 2024–2025 fiscal year, and ESC Region 16 service contracts were renewed.
A budget amendment was approved, and a preliminary discussion was held on the 2025–2026 district budget. The board also approved the Student Code of Conduct for the next two school years, a new depository contract and the Gray County Adjunct Faculty Agreement.
Additionally, the board approved meal price increases to account for rising food costs and the expiration of the federal Supply Chain Assistance Grant. Breakfast prices will increase from $1.75 to $2.00 for students and from $3.35 to $3.50 for adults. Lunch prices will rise to $3.00 for secondary students, $2.75 for elementary students, and $5.00 for adults. These rates remain compliant with state and federal guidelines, as the district’s weighted average price meets the required minimums.
Finally, the board delegated authority to Superintendent Duane Limbaugh to execute contracts under TEC Chapter 49, related to the district’s status as a property-wealthy district. The meeting concluded with reports from administrators, principals, athletics, business services and maintenance.
With these approvals in place, White Deer ISD is well-positioned for a strong start to the 2025– 2026 school year.
