Emily Lucille Miller Hendrix was called to her heavenly home on May 9, 2025.She was born to Ollie May Riddle and Eugene Buckner Miller in 1930 in Rago, Kan.

After attending twelve different schools across the southern United States, she settled in Panhandle, Texas, where she lived for fifty years. In 1951, she married Theophilus Roy Hendrix and devoted her life to being a homemaker. Additionally, she served as a dispatcher for the county sheriff and worked at the Pantex plant for over twenty years.

She moved to Lafayette, La., in 2000. An avid reader, she had a particular interest in American history. Additionally, she enjoyed interior decorating, maintaining her home, and gardening, taking great pride in her Texas bluebonnets.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Gale Hendrix Vaughn; her granddaughter, Amy Lucille Vaughn; her grandson, Troy Lee Vaughn, and his wife, Amie K. Hansel Vaughn; her great-grandchildren, James David Hedlund, Evelyn Lucille Vaughn, and Palmer Dwayne Vaughn; her sister, Shirlene Elmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her young son; Stanley Neal Hendrix; her parents; her stepfather; her three sisters; and her son-in-law.

She was a member of Covenant Global Methodist Church in Lafayette, La.

Graveside services will be scheduled for a later date.
