Three pleas given in Childress County District Court

On Tuesday, Feb. 25, three pleas took place in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County.

Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Dale Rabe presiding.

Alicia Cruz, 24, from Pampa, Texas, was placed on four years probation for the second felony offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, enhanced to a first degree.

Cruz was arrested by Collingsworth County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Arnold on Feb. 13.  Cruz pleaded to an information filed by the State on Feb. 21.

Cruz was also ordered to pay a $500 fine, $376 in court costs, complete 400 hours of community service, attend and complete anger management, and have no contact with the victim. If her probation is revoked, Cruz faces up to 99 years or life in prison.

Randy Keith Mason, 44, from Clarendon, Texas, was placed on four years probation for the third degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, enhanced to a second degree felony.

Mason was arrested by Carson County Sheriff’s Captain Chris Richardson on March 22, 2024.  Mason pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 28, 2024.

Mason was also ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, $305 in court costs, $180 lab fee, and complete 400 hours of community service. If his probation is revoked, Mason faces up to 20 years in prison.

In a separate case, Mason was also placed on four years probation for the state jail felony offense of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information enhanced to a second degree felony.

Mason was arrested by Carson County Sheriff Deputy Rick Armstrong on March 5, 2024.  Mason pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 28, 2024.

Mason was also ordered to pay $305 in court costs. If his probation is revoked, Mason faces up to 20 years in prison.

If the probation is revoked in each of Mason’s cases, the Court may order that any prison sentences imposed be served consecutively.
