Visitation with the family will be today, Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Minton-Chatwell Funeral Home in Panhandle. At the request of the family masks must be worn at the visitation and services.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Panhandle, following the interment at 9:30 a.m. at the Panhandle Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Jerry Lane and Rev. Kirk Watson will officiate under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Steve was born on May 3, 1961 to Dixie and Bill Surratt. He attended Panhandle Schools and received his degree from Angelo State University in San Angelo. Stephen spent his life working on the ranch, raising cattle and farming. He was gifted in mechanical work, enjoyed fishing, cooking and being with people. One of his greatest joys was as a sophomore, when he won Grand Champion with his crossbreed hog.
Survivors include his mother, Dixie Surratt; brothers, Carrol Surratt and wife, Rhonda of Panhandle and Charles Surratt of Panhandle and Wallace, Kan.; sister, Rosemary and husband, Chris Koetting, of Canadian; niece Lauren Koetting and nephews, Bill and Jack Koetting, all of Canadian; niece, Christy and husband, Buddy Little and great-nephews Kayden and Carson, all of Denver City; nephew, Aaron Brummer and wife, Kristie of Canyon; aunts, Jane Klett of Amarillo, Mary Kate Rittmann of Orinda, Calif., Alice and husband, Robbin Dawson of Panhandle; several cousins and many friends in Panhandle and Kansas.
