Skye Christopher Leland
1978 - 2020

Lake Arcadia, Central State Park in Edmond, Okla., was the outdoor setting where family and friends gathered to celebrate the life of Skye Christopher Leland.

Skye was born on Oct. 12, 1978 to Debbie Leland and Cappy Leland in Oklahoma City, and passed away on Feb. 27, 2020 in Oklahoma City. Before Skye’s birth, Cappy, mistaking Debbie’s comment for a question, about a beautiful sky, replied, “Yes, that would be a great name,” and, as they say, the rest is history.

Skye graduated from Jones High School and attended Oklahoma State University where he developed many lifelong friendships.

He was a man of many skills and talents, but found his greatest joy in the great outdoors. Whether it was hunting, fishing-especially in the Laguna Madre with grandpa Virgil, golfing with his dad and Grandpa Bob, or camping with friends, he was a happy man and made everyone’s experience a great one.

He was owner and operator of Leland Fabrication, as well as a guide for Leland Outfitters, and later Cadillac Creek Outfitters. He was an artist with his welding torch and also made beautiful knives.

Skye was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wanda and Virgil Pfeifer, and paternal grandparents, Betty and Bob Leland.

He is survived by his children, Marlee Brooke Leland, Annee Elizabeth Leland and John Sullivan Leland, all of Panhandle. Sulli, upon hearing of his father’s death, smiled and said, “I’m so proud of Dad, and glad he’s with Jesus. That’s the best place to be.”

Skye is also survived by his mother, Debbie Leland, of Jones, Okla., and father, Cappy Leland of Edmond; his brother and sister-in-law, Beau and Stefanie Leland of Choctaw, Okla.; and sister, Brooke Leland of Oklahoma City. He was also “Uncle Skye” to a plethora of nieces and nephews and will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you please make donations to your favorite charity or to a College Scholarship fund that has been set up for the Skye Leland children through Happy State Bank.
