Seven people attended the post-evaluation meeting of the J.O.Y. July Fourth Celebration. Discussion centered on this year’s event and what needed to be done for next year.

The consensus of those present was that “overall” things went well this year, but that there is, as always, room for improvement. Definitely, more entertainment is needed, so please be thinking about that for next year. This is an excellent place to showcase your talents.

As for booths, please remember this is the only fundraiser that some organizations use to raise funds, so booth holders and/or venders are asked to sell only the item they have signed up to sell. For example: the Junior High J.O.Y. organization sells only sodas and bottled water, so they are the only booth who should sell those items. Next year, you will be asked to fill out a form stating what you intend to sell, and only you will sell those items. If you had a booth this year, you will have first choice for your item(s) next year.

Rules for the Little Prince and Princess Contest will remain the same. The contestant must be a resident of Carson County.

Luke Durst, Parade Chairman, would like to encourage more kids to decorate their bicycles and join in the Parade. Also, more families, groups and organizations need to enter floats.

All the activities, including the free-shot contest, sand-dig, frog race and the new obstacle course had lots of participation. Look for new events next year.

July 4, 2015 will be on a Saturday, so make plans for a fun-filled family week-end. Some new things are already in the planning stages.
Attending the meeting were: Luke Durst, Tammy Wendel, Kayla Hammer, Debbie Jones, Glenda Holt, Helen Beck and Ann Metcalf.
