Services were held Friday, May 3, in Texline United Methodist Church in Texline. Burial was in Texline Cemetery in Texline with arrangements by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart.
Richard Franklin Hefley was born Feb. 18, 1933, in Clayton, N.M., to Robert and Maggie Abney Hefley. Bud graduated from Clayton High School in 1951 and served in the Army before returning to the Texline area in the mid 1950s. He married Kathryn “Kay” Glenn on June 7, 1959, in Texline. He ranched his entire life and was a member of Texline United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Bobbye Wood.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Hefley of Texline; two daughters, Gay and husband Gerald Wilhelm of Dalhart and Joy and husband Alan Ritchie of Lubbock; a son, Robert and wife Lewetta Hefley of Texline; 11 grandchildren, Brent and Lynnsey Wilhelm of Grapevine, Lori and Judd Steger of Pilot Point, Jayme and Shawn Blanton of Denton, Glenn Hefley and fiancée Kimberly Melton and Morgan Hefley, all of Texline, and Jordan Ritchie and fiancé Jerrod Ellison, Marie Hefley, and Garrison Ritchie, all of Lubbock; two great-grandchildren, Knox Steger and Nolan Blanton; a sister, Sue Persons of Amarillo; three brothers-in-law, Don Wood of Tucson, Ariz., George Glenn of Roggen, Colo., and John Glenn and wife Jo of Fort Morgan, Colo.; and a sister-in-law, Sally Glenn of Aspen, Colo.
