REAPS (Retired Educators Association of Panhandle Schools) will meet Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. in the First Methodist Church in Panhandle.

At the Texas Retired Teachers District 16 Spring Conference, Charles Gill was given an Appreciation Award for chairing the Health Care Services Committee for the district. Tommy Hays, a past PISD teacher and coach is this year’s District 15 President and will be attending the Oct. 1 local meeting.

The local retired teachers (REAPS) unit meets on the first Tuesday of September through May. All retired school personnel from Claude, Groom, Panhandle and White Deer are invited and encouraged to join our local as well as the State organization. “If you are retired from a school not listed, but live in our ares, please join us,” said REAPS President Ann Metcalf. “Anyone who wants to show their support or just be a part of this organization are welcome to join, At the spring conference, we leaned businesses or individuals who want to can pay the state and local dues and become a member and receive the member benefits.”

The offices for the local unit are: President-Ann Metcalf; First Vice President-Sandy Poteet; Second Vice President (Program Chairman)-Marie Slover; Secretary-Tommye Roark; Treasurer-Judy Sherrod.
