Ray Lawrence “Larry” Parsley

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in White Deer with Rev. Robert Burke, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Larry was born on Aug. 30, 1924 in Seneca, N.M. to Richard Kirk and Nadia Mundy Parsley. He graduated from Felt High School in Felt, Okla. Larry joined the United States Marines in 1943 and served until 1946. He received the Purple Heart Award and the Bronze Star.
He married Maxine Bell on Aug. 19, 1947 in Pampa. After 65 years together, she preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 2012. Larry was the president and owner of Parsley Sheet Metal and Roofing for 41 years until he retired. He was a member of the White Deer United Methodist Church. Larry volunteered with the Pampa Optimist Club and was a part of the VFW in Pampa for many years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and gardening. Larry loving taking the vegetables from his garden to the give to his friends and giving ladies candy on Valentine’s Day.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Richard David Parsley and Kerry Parsley; one son-in-law, Steve McClendon; and three brothers, Sammy Parsley, Sidney Parsley and Lonnie Parsley.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Jody McClendon of Clarendon; one sister, Sallie McCausland of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Tracy Mills, Jerry Parsley, Dave Parsley, Darla Gaines and Rhonda Ceasar; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
