CHANNING — Rachel Irene “Sug” Turner, 75, of Channing died Monday, Nov. 3, 2014.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas.

Rachel or “Sug,” as she came to be known, was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Nara Visa, N.M. to Lester Earl and Rachel Alice Irene Rinestine. She was an active member of United Methodist Church of Channing. She worked in fabrication at Swift for 30 years.

After retirement, Sug spent her time helping the elderly as a caregiver in Channing and was an active member of the community. Playing basketball in her youth was one of her great joys, and she loved watching young kids play basketball.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Sonny Rinestine.
Survivors include three daughters, Belinda Pritchett of Channing, Melinda Uselding and husband Mike of Bushland and Jamie Sharp and husband Jimmie Joe of Las Vegas, Nev.; a son, Kevin Turner of Channing; two sisters, Betty Willard and husband Dale of Panhandle and Mary Mallinger and husband Frank of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Lindi Pritchett, Lara Uselding, Alisa and Erica Sharp, Kirstyn, Kaitlyn and Tristyn Turner; and a great-grandchild, Wyeatt Pritchett.
