Memorial services were held Tuesday, April 30, in First United Methodist Church in Clarendon with the Rev. Lloyd Stice officiating. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Nova Lee Mooring, a lifelong resident of Donley County, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at age 85. She was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Ashtola to Carl and Nova Ann Barker. Nova attended schools in Ashtola, Lelia Lake and Clarendon. She attended a year of college at Clarendon Junior College. She married Bill Mooring on Jan. 10, 1947. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Clarendon.
She was an avid bridge player and played with several groups in Clarendon. She was an excellent cook known for her wonderful pies and cakes. She generously baked them for special events and for friends. At Mrs. Mooring’s request, her body was donated to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Viola Graham, Vera Noble, Mamie Clark and Mildred Tomlinson; and a brother, Earl Barker.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Mooring; two sons, Don Mooring of Canyon and David Mooring of New Braunfels (formerly of Panhandle); four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Barker of Amarillo; and a sister, Mary Lou Murph of Snyder.
