Mattie Lee Cotton, 85, died Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Claude, Texas.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012 at the Panhandle Cemetery. Pastor Larry Perkins of the Trinity Fellowship Church of Panhandle officiated.

Arrangements were under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Mattie was born on Aug. 21, 1926 to Ralph Rankin and Ruby (Bledsoe) Rankin. She married Garland Cotton on March 27, 1945 in Magazine, Ark. She moved to Panhandle from Shamrock in 1983. Mattie was a homemaker and loved crafting, shooting pool, playing dominoes and crocheting.

Mattie is survived by her husband, Garland; two sons, Wayne Newman and wife Jean of Savanna, Okla., Ray Cotton and wife Diana of Ozark, Ark.; three daughters, Cindy Maddox and husband Michael of Panhandle, Joletta Powell of East Strousburg , Penn. and Jeanette Kirkland and husband Pete of Troup, Texas; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
