Lupe “LuLu” Contreras

Services were Wednesday, Nov. 13, in Comanche Trail Church of Christ with Mr. Loran Harper officiating. Burial was in Llano Cemetery with arrangements by Cox Funeral Home of Amarillo.
Lupe was born Dec. 12, 1925, in D’Hanis to Antero and Juanita Ramirez. She married Paul Contreras on Nov. 8, 1942, in Sabinal and had recently celebrated 71 years of marriage.
She was a member of Comanche Trail Church of Christ. She had a passion for sewing, quilting and crafts of all kinds. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Felix; two grandsons, Jason Contreras and Mark Contreras; and a brother, Julian Ramirez.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Contreras; six children, Min Galaviz and husband John, Richard Contreras, Victor Contreras and wife Lupe and Michael Contreras, all of Amarillo; Henry Contreras and wife Delores of Panhandle; and Louis Contreras and wife Donna of Elmendorf; 29 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Eloisa Muniz and husband Carlos of D’Hanis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children’s Home.
