Loveta Pope
1939 - 2023

Loveta Pope, 84 of Pampa, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, in Pampa, surrounded by her family.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, April 4, at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Nathan Bailey, elder of the Somerville Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Loveta was born on March 7, 1939, in Stanton, Texas, to Juanita and Willie Hull. On April 2, 1955, she married the love of her life, Ray Pope. The couple was only two days away from celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary. They moved to Pampa in 1967 and have been a part of the community ever since. Loveta held many jobs during her life, some of which included working for IRI for nearly 10 years, Heard-Jones Drug Store, Dairy Queen, and Pampa ISD.

Loveta is preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter, Layla Faye; sister, Dorothy Long; and brother, Bobby Don Hull.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Pope of the home; brother, Homer Lee Hull and wife Doris; son, Ricky Pope of Canyon; three daughters, Debora Rice and husband Dwight of Lubbock, Karen Gilleland of Pampa, and Nesha Walker and husband Clifton of Oak Point; eight grandchildren, Christopher Rice and wife Rose of Panhandle, Brooke Ham of Durango, Colo., Michelle Gamblin and husband Dave of Celina, Heather Roschetzky and husband Gary of Lamesa, Sean Pope and wife Misty of Conroe, Kolby Gilleland and wife Amanda of Canyon, Amber Nesloney and husband Jason of Lubbock, and Dakota Gilleland and wife Shelby of Abilene; 16 great-grandchildren, Carter Rice of Panhandle, Jordyn Roschetzky, Hunter Roschetzky, and Aubrey Roschetzky, all of Lamesa, Texas, Wrigley Ham, Camden Ham, and Jack Ham, all of Durango, Jase Pope of Conroe, Ella Gamblin, Emerson Gamblin, and John Luke Gamblin, all of Celina, Hazel Nesloney, Hadley Nesloney, and Hannah Nesloney, all of Lubbock, Delilah Gilleland of Canyon, and Charlie Gilleland of Abilene; and numerous other extended family members.
