Five young ladies represented Carson County 4-H as they competed against other 4-H’ers from 17 counties in the District 1 4-H Fashion show on April 20 at Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Amarillo.
Youth advanced to this competition after placing first in their individual county competitions and the first place winners of the senior division will advance to Texas 4-H Roundup, which will be held June 10-14 at Texas A&M University in College Station.
The clothing and textiles project consists of three divisions: constructing an outfit, buying an outfit or designing, planning and illustrating an outfit. Fashion Storyboard competition is also another category which provides an opportunity for participants to gain knowledge of career responsibilities of a fashion designer and illustrator.
Representing Carson County were: Construction Active - Acacia Barker, second place, Intermediates; Construction Formal - Jodie Detten, first place, Seniors; Buying Dressy - Josie Mitchell, third place, Seniors; Buying Casual - Ashley Byers, first place, Seniors; Fashion Story Board Accessory - Ashby Dauer, first place, Seniors.
