Funeral services were held on Monday morning, Feb. 14, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Panhandle with Brother Josh Light officiating. Burial followed at the Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
She was born on April 19, 1926, to Bernice and Forrest Arp in Charlie, Texas. She married Wilburn “Willie” Dorris in Alexandria, La. on June 23, 1944. They had two daughters, Gaylynn and Susan. Katie and Willie made a home in Borger, before finding their forever home in Panhandle, where their family continued to grow.
Katie was a homemaker who loved golfing and strived for a hole in one on all 18 holes. She was a member the Collector’s Club in Borger. She was also an artist who painted beautiful oil paintings. She was an excellent cook and baker, who made the best fudge. She enjoyed canning and making candy. Katie taught Sunbeams and Mission Friends for many years at First Baptist Church of Panhandle.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Forrest Arp; husband, Wilburn Dorris; daughter, Susan Russ; and she was the last living of 10 children born to her parents.
She leaves a legacy of greatness and love to her daughter and son-in-law, Gaylynn and Bob Russ of Panhandle; her grandchildren, Robby and Tiffany Russ of Jetmore, Kan., Richard and Lori Russ of Grove, Okla., Heather and Jeff Mincy of Saratoga, Wy., Denise and Gary Davis of Amarillo, Katie Muir of Panhandle, and Carrie and Branch Willis of Conroe, Texas. She also is survived by her 33 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Addison and Colby Russ, Gibson and Mason Russ, Justin Mincy, Brady Russ, Jason Durham, James, Casey and Hayden Muir and Tyler and John Willis.
