Services were held for Kathy on Saturday, Oct. 31, with a visitation for family and friends at, followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home and Chapel in Lubbock.
Kathy was born to Lorene and Eldon Ray Braidfoot on Jan. 27, 1955 in Memphis, Texas. Kathy attended schools in Panhandle, graduating with the Class of 1974. She attended West Texas State University briefly before working at Pioneer Oil & Gas for several years. She made an adventurous move to Irving, working in downtown Dallas before making her way back to Amarillo. She married Greg Horst in 1988, moving to Lubbock with him. She continued her career at Texas Tech Health and Sciences Center and retired from Lubbock Power & Light. Kathy had a kind spirit, a twinkle in her eye and a contagious laugh.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Greg; a beloved brother, Randy Braidfoot and wife Margie of Panhandle; nephews whom she adored, Ben Braidfoot of Panhandle and Bo Braidfoot and wife Lynda of Georgetown; a great niece, Emma Melber; special “nephews,” Rick Partain of Katy, Texas and Rod Partain of Ira, Texas’ and many much-loved family members and friends. Her shih-tsu pups, Snickers and Gizmo will miss spending time on her lap.
