Johnny Lee Williams
1951 - 2020

On Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, John Lee Williams, loving husband and father of two children, went to be with his Heavenly Father at the age of 69. He was home in Providence Village, Texas with his wife, Carolyn Love Williams, his daughter Heather and husband, Bryan Schleckman, of Seattle, Wash. and son, Christopher Williams.

John was born on Aug. 26, 1951, in Hereford, to Faye Mitchell Williams and Thomas Williams. He attended school in Panhandle from the first grade until graduation from Panhandle High School in 1970.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1980 as a Sergeant E5.

After his army career was completed John attended the University of North Texas and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education and Master’s Degree in Education. He taught English, biology, Gifted and Talented and anatomy to hundreds of students at Ponder ISD. He was very close to his students and faculty during his many years of service. He leaves a great legacy as an educator.

John is preceded in death by his parents.

He is also survived by his two brothers, Lonnie Williams of Corinth, Texas and Windy Williams and wife, Nancy, of Seminole, Texas; a sister-in-law, Denise and husband Tommy Gibbons of Chandler, Texas; two nieces, Lori Williams and husband Luke Miller of Edgewood, N.M. and Christi Gibbons Pickle; two nephews, Garett Williams and wife Stephanie of Los Alamos, N.M. and Chandler Williams of Roanoke, Texas; six great-nephews; two great-niece; two aunts, Reba Carmen of Lubbock and Ann Mitchell of Stratford; and many cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the Roselawn Cemetery in Denton, Texas on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested any memorials be made in John’s name to the Disabled American Veterans.
