John Raymond (J.R.) Caffee went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2019, after a surgical procedure from which he never recovered.
A celebratory memorial service will be held at Petty Baptist Church in Pett, Texas at 10 a.m. on Sept. 21, 2019. Prior to the church service, a committal of ashes will be conducted at Hickory Grove Cemetery, south of Petty, at 9:30 a.m. on the same day.
J.R. was born in Groom on Jan. 17, 1944 to Lorene and Leslie Caffee, both of who precede him death. He is survived by brother, Roy Caffee and wife Darlene of Waxahachie, Texas; sister, Peggy Murray of Panhandle; sons, David Caffee and wife Kandy and Jason Caffee, all of Amarillo; and daughter, Tessa and husband Joey Moailmski, of Amarillo. He is also survived by two grandsons, two great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Prior to this failing heath, J.R. worked as a farmer and rancher in and around Panhandle. After retirement, J.R. relocated to Honey Grove, Texas and became active in the Paris, Texas Elks Club, which became his greatest source of entertainment where he enjoyed meetings and dancing with the many friends he made there.
He was always ready to help others when he could. Quiet my nature, he could often be seen standing, listening to a conversation while others talked; although introverted, he had a distinctive and infectious laugh and smile, which never went unnoticed. J.R. will be missed by all who really knew and loved him.
