Staff Sergeant and Mrs. Thomas Gerard Conklin

Jaree’ Isa Cotton and Staff Sergeant Thomas Gerard Conklin were united in marriage at a 7 p.m. ceremony on Oct. 27, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Littlefield, Texas.
The bride’s parents are Janet and Tim Cotton of Littlefield; her grandparents are Edith and Duane Cotton of Lubbock, and the late Addie and Harrison Caldwell. Leone and Michael Conklin of New Brighton, Minn. are parents of the groom; his grandparents are Evelyn and Leo Murlowski, New Brighton, and Agnes and Jack Conklin, Eugene, Ore.

Rev. Ryan Bird officiated the double ring ceremony. The bride’s sisters, Maid of Honor Jancee’ Cotton, Bridesmaid Journee’ Cotton, and Junior Bridesmaid, Jubilee’ Cotton and bridesmaids Alayna Miller of Eden, N.C., Keitha Lowe of Lubbock and Tiffany Taylor of Alva, Fla. attended the bride. Their floor length slate gowns and Venetian gold boleros complemented the United States Air Force dress blue uniforms of the groomsmen. Best Man Staff Sergeant Caleb Kelley of Creech AFB, Nev., the groom’s brothers Senior Airman Phil Conklin of Luke AFB, Ariz., and Mathieu Conklin of New Brighton, his cousin Senior Airman Steve Smith of Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, and Senior Airman Jimmy Wajda of Vandenberg AFB, Calif. attended the groom.

Jeff Caldwell and Jason Robison, both cousins of the bride from Lubbock, and Troy Wright and Trey James, both from Alamogordo, N.M. ushered guests to their seats. Syndey Squires of Pagosa Springs, Colo. and Virginia Norwood of Alamogordo, N.M. registered guests on the bride’s side, and the groom’s sisters Jacquie Conklin and Michelle Conklin, both of New Brighton, registered guests on the groom’s side. Brianna Norwood and Madison Leslie of Alamogordo handed out programs. Rev. Bird’s daughter, Jasmine, was flower girl, and sons, Chance and Asher, were ring bearers. The bride wore a delicate white lace gown and the lace-edged heirloom cathedral veil worn by her mother and two of her aunts, Jill Robison and Judy Ashcroft. Norah Barker and Noah Caldwell, the bride’s second cousins, were veil attendants.

Jeter Cotton, brother of the bride, played the guitar, and Shannon and Kim Smith, cousins of the groom, played violin. Nancy Sewell played the piano, and Amy Jackson Kingery and Jordan Scott sang. John Robison, the bride’s uncle, narrated the Unity Cross ceremony.

At a reception in the Ministry and Activities Center, the bride's cousin Bess Caldwell, Charity Snodgrass, Joy Spencer, Julia Snyder, Kim Pickrell, Joel and Sylvia Griffith, Linda Pickrel, and Sandy Dinges served wedding cake and punch to guests. Lindsey Norwood, Hunter and Mackenzie Cotton, and the groom's cousin, Drew Conklin, handed out sparklers which guests waved as the couple left for a wedding trip to Barbados.

Mrs. Conklin is a graduate of Bethany College and earned a masters degree from Columbia International University. She is the Dean of Student Life and an instructor at Kingdom Preparatory Academy in Lubbock. Staff Sergeant Conklin has been enlisted in the Air Force for eight years, including his tour in Iraq. Most recently posted to Homestead AFB, Fla., he will be doing his graduate work in International Business at Texas Tech University. The couple will reside in Lubbock, Texas.
