Lee, the son of Martha and George Herber, was born on May 5, 1934 at his home, outside of Lipscomb. He graduated from Darrouzett High School in 1952. After high school, Lee worked for his father-in-law James Laurie, farming and ranching. He later moved to Elkhart, Kan. where he was the owner and operator of Elkhart Plumbing Company before moving to Panhandle where he retired.
Lee leaves behind two daughters, Cindy and husband Ted Jenkins of Bastrop, Texas and Laurie and husband Mike Leavitt of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Tori and husband Don Lofgren of Amarillo, Ginger Slover of Austin and Haley Benedetti of Amarillo; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Herber and wife Nadine of Amarillo and Gary Herber of Pampa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Ruth, Josie and Rubye; and brother, Ed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Darrouzett where Lee grew up.
