Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Perry Hunsaker, associate pastor; Dr. Lane Boyd, chaplain at the Craig United Methodist Retirement Center, and the Rev. John Wagoner officiating. Private burial will be in the Panhandle cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Glynn D was born on April 27, 1916, in Shamrock. His parents were Glynn Daniel and Viola Burgin Harrell. He grew up in Groom, where he spent most of his life until his retirement year.
Glynn D married Sybil York on Oct. 24, 1937. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in 2012. In 2002, they moved to the Craig United Methodist Retirement Center in Amarillo for their retirement years.
Glynn D was a charter member of Groom Lions Club and served his church, Groom United Methodist, as treasurer for many years. In 1993, he was recognized as Outstanding Conservation Farmer by McClellan Creek SWCD No. 156. He was the owner of Groom Hardware and Lumber and enjoyed raising a large herd of quarter horses.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Topaz Hughes.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Louise Mulkey and husband Robert J. of Panhandle, Glynda Eschle of Austin and Beverly Ingram and husband Jim G. of Amarillo; nine grandchildren who all reside in Texas, Sara Allyson Hightower of Amarillo, Mathew Mulkey of Ponder, Jeremy Mulkey of Panhandle, Darron Eschle of Flower Mound, Erin Kate Wolf of Austin, Jason Eschle of Bedford, Glynn Ingram of Rowlett, Lauralee Arnold of Euless and Kemp Ingram of Amarillo; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
