Dalhart — Gaylord Cook, 78, of Dalhart died Monday, July 2, 2012.

Services were held Thursday, July 5, in Dalhart Church of Christ with Jim York, interim minister, and Glen Walton, associate minister of Bell Avenue Church of Christ in Amarillo, officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. Arrangements were by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart.

Mr. Cook was born April 13, 1934, in Cunningham to William and Cumi Kennedy Cook. Mr. Cook graduated from West Texas State University in 1954, and on April 20, 1955, he married Rachel Maynard in Canyon.

While in the Army, he preached in Heidelberg, Germany. After his returning to the U.S., he preached for 50 years in churches in Woodward, Okla., Groom, Panhandle, Kilgore, Wellington, Stamford, Spearman, Dalhart, Seagraves, and Gruver.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Hoyt Cook.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel of Dalhart; two daughters, Gay Lynn Bonjour and husband Darrell of Amarillo and Kim Jones and husband Tim of Dalhart; grandsons, Josh and Libby Bonjour of Fort Worth, Joseph Bonjour of Lubbock, Quentin Bonjour of Amarillo, Carson Jones and fiance Alyssa Johnson of Houston and Greyson Jones of Dalhart; a sister-in-law, Ruby Cook of Crosbyton; a great-grandson, Noah Bonjour of Fort Worth; three nieces, Pat Caddell, Peggy Brewing and Pam Cook; and two cousins.
