Four Pleas Heard In Childress County District Court

Childress – On Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, four pleas took place in Childress County, Texas.
Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas with the Honorable Judge Stuart Messer presiding.
1. Steven Raydan Gibson was convicted for the Class A misdemeanor offense of assault family violence and was sentenced to time served in the Childress County Jail for four days.
Gibson, 33-year-old of Childress, was arrested by Childress Police Detective Landon Johnson on June 18, 2013 and was indicted by a Childress County Grand Jury on Dec.11, 2013.
Pursuant to the plea Gibson is required to pay a $400.50 in court costs.
2. Ramiro Duran Jr was placed on probation for a period of two years for the state jail felony offense of forgery. Duran pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.
Duran, 25-year-old resident of Childress, was arrested in Childress County for the offense that took place Dec. 23, 2013 by Childress Police Officer Jarod Dill. Duran was indicted by a Childress County Grand Jury on March 4, 2014.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Duran is required to pay a $500 fine to Childress County, $400.50 in court costs, $1,506.68 restitution, and successfully complete 100 hours of community service. If Duran violates probation, he could face up to two years in the State Jail Division of the TDCJ.
3. J.C. Jerl Kelley was placed on probation for a period of five years for the first degree felony offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant. Kelley pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.
Kelley, 57-year-old resident of Childress, was arrested in Childress County for the offense that took place June 8, 2014 by Childress Police Sergeant Jerrald Johnson and Officer Miranda Holt. Kelley was indicted by a Childress County Grand Jury on Oct. 3, 2014.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Kelley is required to pay a $250 fine to Childress County, $400.50 in court costs, and successfully complete 400 hours of community service. If Kelley violates probation, he could face up to 99 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.
4. Kelley was also placed on probation for a period of five years for the same first degree felony offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Kelley is required to pay a $400.50 in court costs. If Kelley violates probation, he could face up to 99 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.
