Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in at Llano Mausoleum with the Rev. Scott Raines of Saint Paul United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home of Amarillo.
Mrs. Kerns was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Panhandle to Harry and Cornie Crawford. She moved to Topeka, Kan., and later to San Diego.
She graduated from Washburn University in Topeka and took post graduate work at San Diego State University. She taught school for 17 years for San Diego schools. While in San Diego, she met and married Francis Kerns in 1949. He preceded her in death in 1997.
She was a past matron of Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
Elsie and her husband had been generous donors to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Shriners Burn Hospitals for Children.
