Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Dick Marcear, pastor of Church of Christ at The Colonies. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home of Amarillo.
Mrs. Carroll was born April 15, 1928, in Panhandle to Ellis and Dora Russ. She graduated from Panhandle High School. She moved to Amarillo 46 years ago. Mrs. Carroll was an entrepreneur. She was always looking for ways to increase her income. She learned to play the piano and organ by ear and loved sharing her talent with others.
She married James Yeates Carroll in 1949. They ran a farmers market in Santa Fe Depot for several years. They made many lifelong friends from their market.
After a debilitating stroke in 2001, Mrs. Carroll moved to Kirkland Court Nursing and Rehab. She loved living there and was a very cheerful resident and enjoyed playing bingo with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003 and a son, James ‘Jim” Carroll, in 1991.
Survivors include four sons, Bill Carroll and wife Jan, Don Carroll and wife Nina, Gary Carroll and wife Kim and Jerry Carroll, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Elaine Hill and husband Greg of Amarillo; a sister, Helen Tarpley of Panhandle; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Activity Fund, Kirkland Court Nursing and Rehab, 1601 Kirkland Drive, Amarillo, TX 79106.
