Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday in St. Theresa Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Mieczslaw Przepiora as celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Dennis was born Oct. 1, 1938, to Sam and Irene Kotara. In the 1950s, Dennis attended the St. Meinard’s Seminary. After graduating high school, Dennis went on to Texas Tech University. Dennis served our country in 1959 in the National Guard. He earned outstanding farmer of the year in Carson County from the USDA in the 1970s.
Mr. Kotara was a people person. He could go almost anywhere and know someone. He was a jokester. Dennis loved the land and was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He also loved football. Some of his most valued times were spent with his family and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronald.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Kotara; two daughters, Karen Kotara Kwiatkowski and husband Mike of Las Colinas and Courtney Reeder and husband Mark of Muleshoe; two sons, Samuel Raymond Kotara of Amarillo and Lacy John Kotara of Panhandle; three sisters, Cecilia Pounds of Albuquerque, N.M., Elayne Sanchez and husband Frank of Amarillo and Sandra McWherter and husband Bob of McKinney; a brother, Wayne Kotara and wife Adela of Groom; and four grandchildren, Cash Reeder, Jack Kotara, Brooklynn Kotara and Levi Kotara.
