Funeral service was held Monday, March 10, 2014 at the The River in Panhandle. Burial followed in the Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Darla was born Sept. 9, 1954 in Littlefield, Texas to J.W. and Mable Dear. She married Greg Slover on Aug. 17, 1974 in Earth, Texas. Darla taught for 33 years; 32 of them teaching second grade. She was also a Sunday School teacher.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include husband, Greg of the home; sons, Shane Slover and his wife Jessie of Guymon, Okla., Sy Slover and his wife Alex of Amarillo, Seth Slover of Canyon; five grandchildren, Rilee, Izzabella, Halle Dru, Harper and Callyn; brothers, Lonnie Dear and his wife Sharon of Fort Worth, Leland Dear and his wife Fredda of Denver, Larry Dear of Olton; sisters, Myrna Baker and her husband Ronnie or Irving, Karen Daniel and her husband Raiford of Amarillo, Connie Breckenridge and her husband Clayton of Flower Mound.
The family asks that her memory be honored with a gift to the New Teacher Supply Fund c/o Panhandle United Methodist Church or to the Springlake-Earth Schools Cecil Slover Library Book Fund in honor of Darla Slover.
