Wellington– On Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, four pleas took place in Collingsworth County, Texas.

Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas with the Honorable Judge Stuart Messer presiding.

1. Juan Jose Sanchez was convicted for the state jail felony offense of burglary of a building and was sentenced to 16 months in the State Jail Division of Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Sanchez, 52-year-old of Wellington, was arrested on May 21, 2014 in Collingsworth County for the offense that occurred on May 11, 2014 by Collingsworth County Deputy William Wright. The State filed an information on Nov. 3, 2014.

Pursuant to the plea Sanchez is required to pay $376 in court costs.

2. Tyler Lane Cantu was convicted for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 18 months in the State Jail Division of Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Cantu, 20-year-old of Wellington, was arrested on Sept. 22, 2014 in Collingsworth County for the offense by Collingsworth County Deputy Mike Warren. The State filed an information on Oct. 31, 2014.

Pursuant to the plea Cantu is required to pay $376 in court costs.

3. Cantu also pleaded true to allegations listed in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate Guilt and was sentenced to seven years in the Institutional Division of TDCJ for the third degree felony offense of assault against a family member.

On March 4, 2013, Cantu originally pleaded guilty to offense that occurred on Jan. 11, 2013, in Collingsworth County.

The State filed the motion on Nov. 3, 2014, alleging 13 violations of community supervision.

Cantu is also required to pay $376 in court costs to Collingsworth County and a $500 fine.

4. Cantu also pleaded true to allegations listed in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate Guilt and was sentenced to 18 months in the State Jail Division of TDCJ for the state jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance.

On March 4, 2013, Cantu originally pleaded guilty to offense that occurred on Jan. 11, 2013, in Collingsworth County.

The State filed the motion on Nov. 3, 2014, alleging 11 violations of community supervision.

Cantu is also required to pay $376 in court costs to Collingsworth County and a $140 restitution.
