Childress County Hears 10 Pleas

Childress – On Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, 10 pleas took place in Childress County, Texas.
Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, assisted by Greg Buckley, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas with the Honorable Judge Stuart Messer presiding.
1. Deonse Dontay Blackwell was placed on probation for a period of three years for the third degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Blackwell pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.
Blackwell, 26-year-old resident of Las Vegas, Nev., was arrested in Donley County for the offense that took place Sept. 23, 2014 by DPS Trooper Darrin Bridges. Blackwell pleaded to an information filed by the State on Nov. 14, 2014.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Blackwell is required to pay a $3,000 fine to Donley County, $488 in court costs, $180 restitution, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Blackwell violates probation, he could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.
2. Dujuan Monte Morgan was placed on probation for a period of three years for the third degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Morgan pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.
Morgan, 34-year-old resident of Las Vegas, Nev., was arrested in Donley County for the offense that took place Sept. 23, 2014 by Bridges. Morgan pleaded to an information filed by the State on Nov. 14, 2014.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Morgan is required to pay a $3,000 fine to Donley County, $488 in court costs, $180 restitution, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Morgan violates probation, he could face up to 10 years in the Institutional
Division of the TDCJ.
3. Darolyn Sue Nelson was placed on probation for a period of two years for the third degree felony offense of fraud. Nelson pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.
Nelson, 59-year-old resident of Childress, was arrested for the offense that took place April 16, 2014. Nelson pleaded to an information filed by the State on Sept. 10, 2014. Jennifer Baxter with the Attorney General Office’s Medicaid Fraud Division investigated the case against Nelson.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Nelson is required to pay a $500 fine to Collingsworth County, $376 in court costs, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Nelson violates probation, she could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.
4. Nedra Ann Youell was placed on probation for a period of five years for the third degree felony offense of theft. Youell pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.
Youell, 39-year-old resident of Childress, was arrested for the offense that took place Jan. 1, 2009. Youell was indicted by a Childress County Grand Jury on Oct. 3, 2014. This case was investigated by Childress Police Detective Landon Johnson.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Youell is required to pay a $500 fine to Childress County, $400.50 in court costs, and also paid $77,500 in restitution on the date of the plea, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Youell violates probation, she could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.
“Our goal in this case, and all other theft cases, was to make restitution to the victim as quickly as possible, said Inman. “In this case, the hospital, along with all Childress County taxpayers was the victim and I feel confident that obtaining the restitution upfront was the best way we could reach our goal.”
5. Thomas Neal Beck was convicted for the State Jail felony offense of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to two years in the State Jail Division of the TDCJ, but the sentence was probated for a period of three years.
Beck, 41-year-old of Childress, was arrested by Childress Police Sergeant Jerrald Johnson on June 30, 2014 and pleaded to an information filed by the State on Nov. 12, 2014.
Pursuant to the plea Beck is required to pay a $3,000 fine to Childress County, $400.50 in court costs, $180 restitution, and complete 100 hours of community service.
6. Beverly Kate Jara pleaded true to allegations listed in the State’s Motion to Revoke Community Supervision and was sentenced to 10 months in the State Jail Division of TDCJ for the state jail felony offense of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.
On April 9, 2012, Jara originally pleaded guilty to offense that occurred on Nov. 23, 2011, in Hall County.
The State filed the motion on Nov. 19, 2013, alleging six violations of community supervision.
Jara is also required to pay $376 in court costs to Hall County, a $1,500 fine, and $140 in restitution.
7. Anna Marie Gularte was placed on probation for a period of ten years for the first degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. Gularte pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.
Gularte, 41-year-old resident of Wilmington, Calif., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place July 12, 2014 by DPS Trooper Danny Nunez. Gularte plead to an information filed by the State on Sept. 8, 2014.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Gularte is required to pay a $10,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, $180 restitution, and successfully complete 400 hours of community service. If Gularte violates probation, she could face up to 99 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.
8. Gularte was also placed on probation for a period of ten years for the third degree felony offense of money laundering. Gularte pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Gularte is required to pay $276 in court costs. If Gularte violates probation, she could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.
9. Veronica Ramos Delgado was placed on probation for a period of ten years for the first degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. Delgado pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.
Gularte, 35-year-old resident of Wilmington, Calif., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place July 12, 2014 by Nunez. Delgado plead to an information filed by the State on Sept. 8, 2014.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Delgado is required to pay a $10,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, $180 restitution, and successfully complete 400 hours of community service. If Delgado violates probation, she could face up to 99 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.
10. Delgado was also placed on probation for a period of ten years for the third degree felony offense of money laundering. Gularte pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Delgado is required to pay $276 in court costs. If Delgado violates probation, she could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.
