Childress County District Court sentences one to Childress County Jail

Childress – On Tuesday, Nov. 26, one plea took place in the 100th Judicial District Courtroom at the Childress County Courthouse. Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the case for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Stuart Messer presiding.
- Christopher Edwin Helsley pleaded true and was convicted of the class A misdemeanor offense of unlawful use of a criminal instrument. Helsley was sentenced to six months in the Childress County Jail.
Helsley, 33, from Anna, Texas, was arrested by Pauline Gambol, a former Childress Police Officer on May 7, 2017. Helsley pleaded guilty to an information filed by the State on July 17, 2017.
The state filed its motion to adjudicate on March 29, 2019, alleging five violations of community supervision. Helsley pleaded true to the allegations.
Pursuant to the plea agreement, Helsley is also required to pay $354 in court costs and $180 in restitution.
