Panhandle– On Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, 24 pleas took place in Carson County, Texas.

Luke Inman, the District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, assisted by Scott Sherwood, prosecuted the cases for the State of Texas, with the Honorable Judge Stuart Messer presiding.

1. Victoria Torres, aka Victoria Sepeda, pleaded true to allegations listed in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate and was sentenced to six years in the Institution Division of TDCJ for the third degree felony offense of assault on a public servant.

On Oct. 11, 2011, Torres, from Amarillo, originally pleaded to the charges from the April 16, 2011 arrest in Hall County.

The State filed the motion to adjudicate on June 8, 2015, alleging nine violations of community supervision.

Torres is also required to pay $376 in court costs to Hall County and a $4,000 fine.

2. Rolando Gomez pleaded true to allegations listed in the State’s Motion to Revoke and was sentenced to six years in the Institution Division of TDCJ for the second degree felony offense of possession of marijuana.

On March 16, 2009, Gomez, 35, from Surprise, Ariz., originally pleaded to the charges from the Dec. 12, 2008 arrest in Carson County by DPS Trooper Darrin Bridges.

The State filed the motion to adjudicate on March 31, 2015, alleging three violations of community supervision.

Gomez is also required to pay $313 in court costs to Carson County, $923.10 in restitution, and a $7,000 fine.

3. Arturo Morales Casas pleaded true to allegations listed in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate and was sentenced to four years in the Institution Division of TDCJ for the third degree felony offense of possession of marijuana.

On Oct. 17, 2011, Casas, 40, from Albuquerque, N.M., originally pleaded to the charges from the Feb. 27, 2010 arrest in Carson County.

The State filed the motion to adjudicate on Oct. 4, 2012, alleging five violations of community supervision.

Casas is also required to pay $296 in court costs to Carson County, $585.81 in restitution, and a $4,000 fine.

4. Brittany Nicole Brannan pleaded true to allegations listed in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate and was sentenced to 12 months in the State Jail Division of TDCJ for the state jail felony offense of theft.

On Oct. 20, 2014, Brannan, 28, from Fritch, originally pleaded to the charges from the May 1, 2013 offense in Carson County.

The State filed the motion to adjudicate on June 10, 2015, alleging ten violations of community supervision.

Brannan is also required to pay $276 in court costs to Carson County, and a $1,000 fine.

5. Amy Bell Seabright pleaded true to allegations listed in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate and was sentenced to 12 months in the State Jail Division of TDCJ for the state jail felony offense of possession of marijuana.

On July 8, 2013, Seabright, 25, from Oklahoma City, Okla., originally pleaded to the charges from the Feb. 14, 2013 arrest in Carson County by DPS Trooper Joshua Allen.

The State filed the motion to adjudicate on March 31, 2015, alleging six violations of community supervision.

Seabright is also required to pay $331 in court costs to Carson County, $140 in restitution, and a $2,500 fine.

6. Daniel Phillip Castera was placed on probation for a period of three years for the state jail felony offense of possession of marijuana. Castera pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Caserta, 68, from Vienna, W.V., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on March 25, 2015 by DPS Trooper Casey Dawson. Castera pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 6, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Castera is required to pay a $1,500 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, $180 restitution, a $500 transfer fee, and successfully complete 100 hours of community service. If Castera violates probation, he could face up to two years in the State Jail Division of the TDCJ.

7. Jonathan Marcus Chase Sparks was placed on probation for a period of two years for the state jail felony offense of possession of marijuana. Sparks pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Sparks, 24, from Hanceville, Ala., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on May 18, 2015, by Officer Danny Dawson. Sparks pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 6, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Sparks is required to pay a $1,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, $180 restitution, a $500 transfer fee, and successfully complete 100 hours of community service. If Sparks violates probation, he could face up to two years in the State Jail Division of the TDCJ.

8. Danielle Marie Sanders was placed on probation for a period of four years for the third degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Sanders pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Sanders, 43, from Eureka, Calif., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on Jan. 13, 2015, by DPS Trooper Ben Dollar. Sanders pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 6, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Sanders is required to pay a $1,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, a $500 transfer fee, $180 in restitution, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Sanders violates probation, she could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

9. Francisco Salomon Ramirez was placed on probation for a period of three years for the third degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Ramirez pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Ramirez, 26, from Tulsa, Okla., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on Feb. 7, 2015, by Allen. Ramirez pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 1, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Ramirez is required to pay a $3,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, a $500 transfer fee, $187 in restitution, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Ramirez violates probation, he could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

10. Brian Alfred Ottaviano was placed on probation for a period of three years for the third degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Ottaviano pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Ottaviano, 35, from Ashville, N.C., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on Nov. 20, 2014, by Honesto. Ottaviano pleaded to an information filed by the State on Dec. 29, 2014.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Ottaviano is required to pay a $2,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, a $500 transfer fee, $186 in restitution, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Ottaviano violates probation, he could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

11. Katherine Elizabeth Taylor was placed on probation for a period of three years for the third degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Taylor pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Taylor, 21, from Metairie, La., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on Feb. 4, 2015, by Bridges. Taylor pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 1, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Taylor is required to pay a $2,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, a $500 transfer fee, $180 in restitution, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Taylor violates probation, she could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

12. Emmanuel Maldonado Garcia was placed on probation for a period of three years for the third degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Garcia pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Garcia, 21, from Nashville, Tenn., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on Feb. 4, 2015, by Bridges. Garcia pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 1, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Garcia is required to pay a $2,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, a $500 transfer fee, $180 in restitution, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Garcia violates probation, he could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

13. Rashontae Wonyell Reeves was placed on probation for a period of three years for the third degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Reeves pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Reeves, 31, from El Mirage, Ariz., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on Feb. 5, 2015, by DPS Trooper Danny Nunez. Reeves pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 6, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Reeves is required to pay a $3,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, a $500 transfer fee, $186 in restitution and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Reeves violates probation, she could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

14. Sonja E. Prunty was placed on probation for a period of four years for the second degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Prunty pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Prunty, 56, from Moravian Falls, N.C., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on Feb. 13, 2015, by Danny Dawson.

Prunty pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 6, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Prunty is required to pay a $4,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, a $500 transfer fee, $180 in restitution, and successfully complete 300 hours of community service. If Prunty violates probation, she could face up to 20 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

15. Robert Lee Black was placed on probation for a period of four years for the second degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Black pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Black, 71, from Tucson, Ariz., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on Feb. 13, 2015, by Danny Dawson. Black pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 6, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Black is required to pay a $4,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, a $500 transfer fee, $180 in restitution, and successfully complete 300 hours of community service. If Black violates probation, he could face up to 20 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

16. Ping Yan Wong was placed on probation for a period of three years for the second degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Wong pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Wong, 51, from Tucson, Ariz., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on June 2, 2015, by Danny Dawson. Wong pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 6, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Wong is required to pay a $5,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, a $500 transfer fee, $180 in restitution, and successfully complete 300 hours of community service. If Wong violates probation, he could face up to 20 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

17. Zhuang Qiang Wu was placed on probation for a period of three years for the second degree felony offense of possession of marijuana. Wu pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Wu, 53, from Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on June 2, 2015, by Dawson. Wu pleaded to an information filed by the State on July 6, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Wu is required to pay a $5,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, a $500 transfer fee, $180 in restitution, and successfully complete 300 hours of community service. If Wu violates probation, he could face up to 20 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

18. Katrina Diane Adcock was placed on probation for a period of three years for the third degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. Adcock pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Adcock, 34, from Canadian, was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on March 13, 2012, by Carson County Deputy J.C. Blackburn. Adcock pleaded to an information filed by the State on Sept. 26, 2012.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Adcock is required to pay a $1,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, $338.61 in restitution, and successfully complete 200 hours of community service. If Adcock violates probation, she could face up to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

19. Elijah Wesley Forren was placed on probation for a period of seven years for the first degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. Forren pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Forren, 37, from Lower Lake, Calif., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on Jan. 24, 2015, by DPS Trooper Kendall Styles. Forren pleaded to an information filed by the State on May 1, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Forren is required to pay a $7,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, $180 restitution, a $500 transfer fee, and successfully complete 400 hours of community service. If Forren violates probation, he could face up to 99 years or life in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

20. Forren also pleaded to the state jail felony of possession of marijuana and was placed on deferred for five years.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Forren is required to pay, $336 in court costs and $180 restitution. If Forren violates probation, he could face up to two years in the State Jail Division of the TDCJ.

21. Newell Herbert Wright was placed on probation for a period of six years for the first degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. Wright pleaded guilty and was placed on deferred adjudication for the offense.

Wright, 52, from Ozark, Mo., was arrested in Carson County for the offense that took place on June 10, 2015, by Allen. Wright pleaded to an information filed by the State on Aug. 13, 2015.

Pursuant to the plea agreement, Wright is required to pay a $6,000 fine to Carson County, $336 in court costs, $180 restitution, a $500 transfer fee, and successfully complete 400 hours of community service. If Wright violates probation, he could face up to 99 years or life in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ.

22. Malissa Dawn Sadler pleaded true to allegations listed in the State’s Motion to Adjudicate and was sentenced to six years in the Institution Division of TDCJ for the third degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance.

On July 1, 2014, Sadler, 38, from Elk City, Okla., originally pleaded to the charges from the Oct. 13, 2015 arrest in Carson County by JC Blackburn.

The State filed the motion to adjudicate on May 15, 2015, alleging five violations of community supervision.

Sadler is also required to pay $336 in court costs to Carson County, $180 in restitution, and a $4,000 fine.

23. Natalie Sue Daniels was convicted and sentenced for two different offenses occurring out of Carson County.

Daniels, 29, from Borger, was arrested in Carson County on April 2, 2015, by Skellytown City Marshall Jason Rushing for the second degree felony offense of burglary of a habitation.

Daniels pleaded guilty to that offense, and was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in the Institutional Division of the TDCJ. Daniels is required to pay a $310 in court costs for this offense.

24. Daniels also pleaded true to the state’s motion to adjudicate for a state jail felony offense that she was placed on deferred adjudication for on Oct. 20, 2014.

Daniels was arrested for credit card abuse after an investigation was conducted by Panhandle Police Chief Sace Hardeman and Officer Taner Blackburn.

The State filed its motion to adjudicate on May 29, 2015, alleging eight violations.

After the plea of true, Daniels was convicted for the offense and sentenced to 24 months in the State Jail Division of the TDCJ.

Daniels is also required to pay $500 fine to Carson County and $276 in court costs for this case.
