Carson County 4H had four youth attend the District 1 4-H Leader Retreat in Canyon June 17-19. Jodie Detten and Josie Mitchell of the Panhandle Shining Stars 4-H Club and Abbie and Hanna Brainard of the White Deer 4-H Club attended.

The girls attended leadership workshops, went hiking in Palo Duro Canyon, and enjoyed a banquet and dance during their stay. The 2013-2014 District Officer elections were also head during the retreat. Jodie, Abbie and Hanna decided to run for a District 4-H Council position.

Jodie Detten was elected District 1 First Vice President and will also be serving on the Texas State 4H Council. Abbie Brainard was elected District 1 Secretary and Hanna Brainard was elected District 1 Treasurer. Carson County Extension Agent Jeanene Montgomery, said she is very proud of each of these girls and their commitment to the Carson County 4-H Program.
