Mrs. Black was born on Jan. 1, 1931, at the Gores' home place in White Deer. She grew up on a ranch, and was the youngest of ten children. She developed a lifetime love for music while growing up in a home where her parents and siblings played fiddles, guitars, and pianos. Carla loved God and His Word, adored her sons, and was a gentle, compassionate grandmother. She trusted God with all facets of her life, and taught her family to do the same.
