Services were Friday, Aug. 28, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Amarillo.
Bill was born July 17, 1927, in Bonham to C.W. and Winnie Ownsby. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Bill retired from Tri-State Fair Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Ownsby, in 2004.
Survivors include seven daughters, Jeanne McCubbin and husband Bill of Amarillo, Billie Patridge and husband Jerry of Arlington, Ann Scott and husband Bob of Trinidad, Colo., Terry Bertrand and husband Buddy of Borger, Sherry Sims and husband Harry of Mobeetie, Tammy Lepel of Amarillo and Megan Lepel of California; a son, John Curt Lepel of Greenville, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Thanks to Kevin and Connie Bradford and their family for being such good neighbors and friends to Bill for many years.
The family also wishes to thank the staff at Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home and Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice.
The family suggests memorials be to Shriner’s Hospital or Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home in Amarillo.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
