The Pantherettes traveled to Fort Worth over the break to play in the Whataburger Invitational Tournament. The field of 16 teams boasted some of the top high school girls teams in Texas in Divisions 1A-4A as well as TAPPS 6A. The Fort Worth Whataburger Girls Blue Division showcased five defending 2017 State Champions - 1A Nazareth, 2A Panhandle, 4A Argyle, TAPPS 5A Dallas Christian and TAPPS 6A Liberty Christian. Other State-ranked teams participating were Liberty Hill, Little River Academy, Stephenville, Bowie, Bridgeport, Abilene Wylie, Jim Ned, Seminole and Ponder. Jim Ned defeated Liberty Hill 49-43 to win the tournament.

In game one, the Ettes defeated 3A State ranked Little River Academy 54-43 to advance to the Championship bracket. Lainey Choate and Bree Baker led scoring in the first game with 13 each. Grace Kuehler brought down eight rebounds and added six points to the win. Choate led assists with six, while she, Baker and Kuehler each had two steals.

Game two was a loss for the Ettes as they took on 3A State ranked Wall. Masyn Reining led in points for the Ettes with 11. Baker and Kuehler added 10 points and seven rebounds each. Choate came away with five assists and five steals. Final score was Wall 49 - Ettes 43.

The Ettes bounced back in game three for a 49-41 victory against State ranked 4A Argyle. Kuehler and Baker led in scoring with 12 points each. Kinley Graham came off the bench and added six points and led in rebounds with four. Choate added five assists and three steals.

he final game, the Ettes took on state ranked 4A Abilene Wylie for the fifth place trophy. The Ettes defeated Wylie 59-54 in overtime. Grace Kuehler led her team with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Lainey Choate added eight points, four rebounds, six steals and five assists.

Choate was named to the Whataburger All-Tournament Team. Results of each game are:
