Celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. on Friday at The River Church in Panhandle. Pastor Mark Urquhart will officiate.
Art was born Sept. 23, 1935 in Clarksville, Texas to Arthur William Jewett and Rosie Etta Beck Jewett. He served his country in the National Guard where he was a Corporal. Art married Linda Faye DeBord Oct. 1, 1982 in Amarillo and had lived in Panhandle for 60 years. He worked as a Barber for 60 years and also worked at Pantex as an Explosives Handler and Supervisor for 20 years. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, the Jaycees and the Riding Club. Art was an avid horseman he especially loved to rope head and heel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Hicks; five sisters, Birda Ferguson, Nola Blalock, Lorene Caffee, Doris Osburn and Elaine Montgomery; and his two brothers, Clifford and John Jewett.
Art is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Todd Jewett and his wife Theresa of Panhandle and Toby Jewett and his wife Becky of Fritch; four daughters, Tammy and her husband Greg Wendel of Panhandle, Sherry and her husband Skeeter McEwen of Amarillo, Paula and her husband James Butler of Amarillo and Misty and her husband Dee Kelley of Amarillo; his brother, Robert Jewett of Greenboro, Pa.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
The family would like to greet friends at Tammy’s home at 1100 Charles St. in Panhandle from 7 until 9 o’clock on Thursday evening, April 11.
