Wednesday, Oct. 9, the 55+ Club met in the War Memorial Building for the regular meeting; a very good attendance enjoyed the covered dish lunch and many members stayed for afternoon games. The month of October also has Bingo on the schedule, at least once a month. Board members will be bringing ‘white elephant’ prizes for those winning the games.

Colene Butler announced l20 volunteer hours for the month of September. Also the Club was reminded that it is time to start thinking about the Warm Things project and those items can be brought at any time; the weather is definitely turning cooler, so by the time the ‘real cold’ comes down, we want to be ready to distribute warm items to those who need them.

Prayers and thoughts were sent to Betty Vick, at home mending after a fall; also Larry Profitt is going to be starting his treatments soon at the VA Hospital. We always appreciate the caring interest of community friends for the Club and its activities; members signed and sent cards to those individuals with a big ‘thank you’ to Lewis Powers, Scott Sherwood and James Martin. Also on Monday, Oct. l4, at 7 p.m., a meeting is to be held in the Memorial Building for anyone interested in knowing more about the town’s Christmas decorations and etc. that will be taking place before the holidays.

Jane Hare reminded everyone of the upcoming election to be held Nov. 5; anyone voting MUST HAVE a picture ID or some identification of who you are in order to get a ballot. If more information on that is needed, check at the County Courthouse or watch for information in the local newspapers.

55+ Club members have sent out invitations to County Veterans to come and eat with us on Nov. 6. We do ask for an RSVP in order to be better prepared at meal time; and we are looking forward to spending that day together.

We are about to finish our ‘Butterfly’ puzzle; but it does not go very fast, so when it is finished in a week or two, we plan to start on a Christmas or winter one, so maybe we can be finished by the time the season arrives! If you don’t care for games, but like jig saw puzzles, please come and join the fun; we would welcome you with smiling faces.
